I know this season has been a little confusing with The Lisa Robertson Show. We were off the last two weeks, but this Friday we are back! I am so excited about the fashion this week. Leather in any form continues to be one of the strongest trends for the season and this week's G.I.L.I.(TM) fashion is right on trend. We have an amazing skirt that is one of the most flattering things I've ever worn. The perfect update to a leather jacket with the combination of textures that gives you that directly-off-the-runway look. A sheath dress with the perfect touch of the look of leather, the perfect tuxedo-influence layering piece, and the list goes on.

There is also a new beauty concept and new jewelry designs from Judith Ripka. Stay tuned for more sneak peeks before the show, because it's always nice to see things first.

By the way, on Friday we have a new video on the Lisa Robertson 360 page on helpful tips on belting for different figures. I hope you like it. :)

See you Friday at 10pm ET!

It is the long awaited show this Friday....when you can finally get the G.I.L.I.(TM) Zipper Dress! This week we are showing you some of the most popular concepts for fall. The zipper dress brings in the element of zippers as an important design element.

The faux leather jacket brings in the leather influence, colors of leather, and darker hardware, and the longer military style jacket highlights the continuing military influence that is a mainstay in luxury, cold weather fashion.

There is a G.I.L.I.(TM) pendant and earrings that have a delicate feminine feel, and a bold status link bracelet that gives you a completely different direction. I can't believe that this Friday night is the season finale of The Lisa Robertson Show. This season was over in a blink! We have so many gorgeous things for you it is going to be a 2-hour show, from 9pm ET to 11pm ET.

There is a dress that I am particularly excited about. It is our signature Milano Ponte. (This is kind of a cross between a scuba feel and knit.) The dress has zipper detail and is a really timeless, flattering design.

We have a luxury, herringbone, equestrian-influence jacket that looks so "Ralph-you-know-who," you'll love it. There is a zipper skirt that is one of the hottest looks of the season; an "Après chic" sweater that looks like you just came off the slopes; a new fragrance from Fresh; a new concept from Eve Lom; some Croco Jai John Hardy pieces; and the G.I.L.I.(TM) bag you've all been asking about. Wow! I'm exhausted just thinking about it! :)

Here are the "Looks" for this week and I'll see you Friday night at 9pm ET. Don't be late, you know things go fast!!!!

Courtney & Aaron's Wedding - The Big Day Is This Saturday!

This Saturday is the big day: Courtney and Aaron's wedding!!!

I cannot imagine two people being more perfect for each other. Courtney is this natural, adorable, quirky individual. She is a gem who is always happy. Aaron is a sweet-natured soul who starts out quietly, then has a ridiculously great sense of humor. I am so happy for both of them.

I have two amazing sisters, but feel that Courtney is "a sister from a different mother." She makes me laugh more than anyone else I can think of. She's also one of the only people who can get me out on the dance floor!

Lisa & Courtney

As with any big event, there have been a few moments of drama. We were texting back and forth when she was in New York and I was in the airport and they couldn't find her dress! We both had a cheeseburger for good luck and stress, and then it all worked out. Now that all the arrangements are done and everyone is on their way. I cannot wait to be there. I am so honored to be one of the people to celebrate their day with them.

Dress Shopping

She has promised that there will be a lot of pictures for us to share, so you can be there with us in spirit. Congratulations Courtney and Aaron!

My Vacation in Photos--Time with My Family Plus Courtney & Aaron's Wedding

Last week was a very needed vacation. It was so nice to be able to spend a few days with my family. Just "hanging out" with my sisters and nieces and nephew is the best therapy in the world. Not necessarily doing anything "special"...just time with special people.

Lisa's Sister

My dad and his wife Murleen came in the last evening and we all celebrated my dad's birthday a little early. I hope l take after him, because he looks amazing! Thank you for all your birthday wishes. I know he really enjoyed them.

Then it was off to Courtney's wedding! I was so honored to be part of her very special day. There were a lot of people there who love her and Aaron and it was a wonderful, wonderful weekend. We had the best time at the rehearsal dinner, where they invited out-of-town guests and everyone in the ceremony. It was great southern food, lots of laughs, karaoke, and dancing.

The next day was perfect weather for the wedding.

It was a simple and beautiful ceremony and Courtney was one of the most beautiful brides I have ever seen in her Mark Zunino wedding gown.

It is easy to see that she and Aaron love each other very much. It is also easy to see how careful and respectful they are with each other while still laughing a lot. There were a lot of laughs at the reception!

And there was also some of the best food I have ever had!

Donuts!

I would have kept going back for more if I wouldn't have embarrassed myself. I was joking to my friends that I have not had macaroni and cheese in years, and I obviously held out until the right time because that mac and cheese was worth it!

Wedding Food

The evening ended with a great band and lots of dancing. Yes, Courtney even got me out on the floor!

Then the couple was sent on their way to their new life with everyone in the wedding party holding sparklers on either side. It was a beautiful evening. I know that she and Aaron are going to have a wonderful time on their honeymoon. I wish them the best of everything. I don't think they'll need luck...they have so much of "the good stuff" already. :)

Girl Time on Camera: A Moment with My Amazing Friend, Laura Geller

I am trying to remember how many years Laura Geller and I have been friends, and I cannot come up with the exact number. Suffice it to say that we have been friends for a long time. She is an amazingly talented accomplished woman who never ceases to be humble and funny and wonderful. As a coworker, she is a joy to work with. I am always so happy when I get to do one of her shows. She has taught me a lot about makeup. She is the one who taught me to contour and I will forever be in her debt!

As a friend, she is steady, loyal, and honest. There have been many dinners in New York catching up on things we've missed about each other because we are both so busy. But no matter how long it's been, it seems like no time has passed at all. I adore her (obviously) and love her makeup. No matter where our lives take us, I know that we will always be friends, and I am extremely grateful for that! :)

I Think It’s Time for a New Adventure

$

23 years ago I got my first job in television shopping. It wasn't something that I always knew I wanted to do, it was something I was lucky enough to fall into because I really needed a job! Ironically, it suits my skills very well. I love to shop and I love talking to people {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}. Over my last 20 years at QVC I have had the most amazing opportunities met the most wonderful people and gone to the most beautiful places. I cannot tell you how lucky I feel. But there comes a time when you have done what you can do and it is time to see what else there is. And that is where I am. After a lot of soul-searching I have decided that I will be leaving QVC. It is time for a new challenge and a new adventure. Although it is a little scary to leave what you have always known, I am very excited about what lays ahead. My greatest hope is that the friends that I have made here will continue to be my friends in the future. There are many people that I work with that I care for deeply and will miss seeing on a regular basis, but I know that we will make time for each other in our lives. Although I will miss talking to you on a regular basis through your television, I do hope that you will find time for me in your life in the future as well. Luckily, we live in an age where it is easier to stay in touch. After all, that's what social media is for. In the next few months, before I leave on December 12, I will treasure every moment more because I know I will not have them much longer. But I will also treasure the opportunity to be excited about what is to come.

Thank you for your kindness, support and friendship throughout the years. It has meant more to me than I can say. You have brightened my darker times and been there when I needed a smile, and I hope that we can continue to do that for each other in the years to come.

Yesterday, Courtney and I had the pleasure of being invited to Mark Zunino's new bridal collection at Kleinfeld's in New York. I think Mark Zunino is one of the most talented designers I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He has a way of making things that compliment a women's figure and bring out her beauty. His bridal collection will make you want to get married or renew your vows just because you want to wear the dress! The workmanship and detail on these dresses is amazing. They are ethereal and beautiful and striking all at the same time. I couldn't take enough pictures because the dresses were so beautiful I wanted to capture every detail! Here are a few of the pictures from the show.

A Sneak Peek at Monday's TSV--I'm So Proud of This G.I.L.I.(TM) Bag!

Every woman needs a great hobo in her handbag wardrobe. This is the last time I will get to be with you for a handbag Today’s Special Value® from the G.I.L.I.(TM) line, and I am so proud of this bag! I have found that great hobos are hard to find. Most of them tend to be either too generic for my taste, or too geared towards teenagers. This is a great hobo in seven different options. The design of this bag means that you can carry a little in it or a lot. It will look beautiful both ways. The contrast handle, the tassel, and the finish of the bag make it look more special, high-end, and designer. The exotic leather on the body or trim completes the status look.

I am struggling with one thing...deciding on my favorite color!

Natural Ostrich Bag

I love the Natural Ostrich...it is a timeless, status look.

Grey Ostrich Bag

But the new Grey Ostrich is the perfect cross between taupe and gray that is that new, cooler neutral.

Nude Ostrich Bag

The Nude Ostrich is that perfect lighter color for the cooler weather that is grounded with the contrast handle.

Cream Snake Bag

The Cream Snake has been one of my "go-to's" in my other bags, and I absolutely love it!

Brown Matte Snake Bag

The new Brown Matte Snake is absolutely rich (and both colors in the snake are a softer leather).

Black Pebble Bag

The Black Pebble leather is soft and buttery and I love the ostrich trim.

Chestnut Croco Bag

And the Chestnut Croco is the warmest, richest chestnut I have ever seen.

See?! How is a girl to choose?! I hope you love it as much as I do. If you want to get it first, go to my QVC Facebook page. There is a post with a link at the top. You can click the link and get it early at the TSV price and Easy Pay. :) It's only on my FB page right now, so you have the inside scoop!

See you soon. :)

Christmas Decorating How-tos: Make Your Mantle & Front Door Something Special

Last week in A Lisa Robertson Christmas, I had a chance to show you some of my favorite new ideas on decorating for Christmas! I have to say, I love Christmas decorating more than almost anything else! A lot of you have questions on how to decorate a mantle and how to decorate your front door when people are coming to visit. So we put together some videos to show you exactly how to do it.

If you want to make your mantle as extravagant as possible, we show you how to start and the basic rules to help you along the way. I know a lot of you bought the garlands and beaded fruit from last week, so this video will really come in handy!

The one feature that greets your guests first when they visit you is your front door. So we also put together a video with some basic rules on how to make your front door something special. I think these videos will give you some ideas on how to use what you already have or give you ideas on what you would like to pick up. I'm looking forward to more Christmas decorating shows on November 7 and 21. But these videos will give you a head start. :-)

Cauliflower Crust Pizza!

$

Today I decided to try something new in the kitchen. (After visiting Alberti and hearing how he does blogs on his recipes, I thought I would try it too).

I saw a number of videos on YouTube about making pizza crust with cauliflower, so I decided to try it! I looked at a number of different versions, decided what I needed, and went to the grocery store.

So then I put all of the ingredients together as you see here. Ignore the chicken, I changed my mind on that! I started by cutting up a while head of cauliflower and "riced" it in the Vitamix. (This was my first time trying it. I did a half at a time, next time I would do a quarter at a time).

I put the riced cauliflower in the microwave for 8 minutes.

Then I mixed in 2 cups of grated cheese, mostly mozzarella and a little Parmesan. I added 2 eggs, some onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper.

Next I mixed it up into a dough-like consistency and put it on an oiled cookie sheet.

I used a large spoon to smooth it out flat like a pizza crust, and put it in the oven at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes. (Next time I would use parchment paper and leave it in longer so it would be a little bit more done).

I took it out and put a store bought pizza sauce, red onion, red and green pepper, green olives, and cheese on it.

I put it back in the oven for about 12 minutes. I didn't think it was browned enough and put it on broil, got distracted, and burned the edges!! But it was still good!

It set up a little more pizza-like as it cooled and became easier to pick up and eat. I have to say, I am surprised....it was really good! I'd show you another picture now, but it's all gone! :)

This is a great alternative for pizza if you want to have lower carbs, or are gluten free :)

Enjoy!

Want to Make Your Home Feel Festive? Set the Table!

One of the things that makes the house look festive is having people over and setting the table for a party. One of the best ways to make your house look festive--without people--is setting the table anyway! By making your table look like an event, the entire house looks like you're ready to entertain. You don't have to buy all new dishes, just use what you have and bring in Christmas decorations. We decided to put together a video to give you some tips on how to do it. I think if you want to make your Christmas decorating extend beyond your tree, this will be very helpful. :-)

See you at 10pm ET this Friday for A Lisa Robertson Christmas!

Easy Rustic Chard, Potato and Feta Tart

$

I found this recipe for Rustic Chard, Potato, and Goat Cheese Tart in my Cooking Light magazine. I made it easier but loved the way it turned out!

You will need:

  • 1 bunch Swiss chard
  • 1 cup vertically sliced red onion
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup thinly sliced potato (I used red potatoes)
  • 2 tsp chopped fresh thyme
  • 1 pre-made pie crust
  • 1 tsp water
  • 1 large egg white
  • Feta cheese
  • Freshly ground black pepper

Tart Ingredients

Preheat the oven to 375°F.

Remove the stems from the chard leaves. Chop up the leaves and stems separately. Set a large skillet over medium-high heat and sauté 1 cup of chard stems and 1 cup of red onion for 1-1/2 minutes. Add 4 cups of chard leaves and sauté for 2-1/2 more minutes.

Saute the chard..

Stir in the salt, potato, and thyme.

Stir in the salt, potato, & thyme...

Remove the pan from the heat and let it cool a little. Roll out the dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Roll out the dough...

Spread the chard mixture evenly over the dough leaving a border. Fold the edges of the dough toward the center pressing gently. Whisk 1 teaspoon of water and one egg white in a small bowl and brush over the top and edges of the dough. Sprinkle the Feta and pepper over the chard mixture.

Fold up the edges; brush with egg wash...

Bake for 40 minutes, or until browned.

Bake until browned, 40 minutes.

Let stand for five minutes to cool. Cut into wedges and serve. :-) I took it to Albany's house for a party and everyone loved it!

Butternut Squash Tart

I love roasted butternut squash, and last week I loved the Swiss Chard tart. So I thought I would try a Roasted Butternut Squash Tart!

First I cut up about 1 pound of Butternut Squash into cubes. Then added 1 Red Onion, cut in large pieces.

I used the leaves of about 5 branches of Rosemary.

I chopped them fine and added them to the squash.

I peeled the cloves of one head of garlic, and cut each clove into slices. Adding those:

I added Balsamic Vinegar

Then tossed it in Olive Oil and Sea Salt

Put it on a cookie sheet

And baked it at 400° for 30 minutes

Next, I rolled out pre-made pie dough

Then I added the squash mixture to center and folded up the sides. I brushed egg white and water over the edges.

I cooked it for 10 minutes, then added goat cheese.

Roasted it for 30 more minutes....
And YUMMY!!!!!

I figured anything in pie dough would be good and I was right.
It's comfort food, baby! Try it! :)

Decorating for Christmas - How to Create a Stunning Entryway!

$

0

I am finally making progress in my decorating! I started with the entryway and thought I would give you a step by step. Ironically, decorating the entryway in my home is one of my favorite things for Christmas. It starts out as a perfectly nice everyday entryway…

Entryway Before...

…but ends up being really stunning. I started by using the new Bethlehem Lights garland all the way up the stairs. Then I added the beaded fruit garland on the long stretches of the green garland and used the beaded fruit teardrops where they come up to attach to the railing.

Bethlehem Lights Garland

The beaded fruit garland and teardrops are attached to the green garland with the branches of the garland itself. Put the spine of the one to the spine of the other and wrap the branches around the fruit.

Bethlehem Lights Garland

Make sure the fruit is evenly distributed from the top to the bottom. Using the teardrops at significant points gives it a nice variation as you move along the garland.

Lisa & the Garland

Garland Close Up

Then add the branches and picks to the fruit. Nestle them down in the garland and spread the branches so they look like they are all one piece.

Garland Close Up

I added extra branches at the focal points to make them more important.

Extra Branches

Then I added large ornaments underneath all the way along the garland.

Bethlehem Lights Garland

This is where I was at this point:

Burlap Ribbon Bow

I felt the focal points needed to be more dramatic, so I added some bows in the new burlap ribbon.

Burlap Ribbon Bow

After that I felt the burlap ribbon needed to be consistent throughout so I re-did the front of the garland at the bottom of the stair.

New Bow

A little extra ribbon on either side of the bows gives it flow.

Burlap Ribbon Bow

Here is the finished product once the poinsettias were added around.

Bow & Pointsettias

When you look at it in its entirety, the base is extremely dramatic and then is complimented with focal points up the stairway.

Finished!

Since it needs to look finished throughout, I made a little arrangement with glitter trees and a music box on the console in the entryway.

Finished Entryway

Now I’m going to have to come in my front door more often to enjoy how pretty it looks. It’s inspiring to get started and see progress. I can’t wait to do the rest of the house! See you Friday night for my last big Christmas décor show from 9-11pm ET.

See you soon!

Roasted Butternut Squash and Shallots

$

0

I realize that I have become dependent on garlic when I roast my vegetables, so I thought I would try something without it. I had some things already in my refrigerator and decided to look for a recipe to put them together.

Here is what you are going to need: butternut squash, shallots, olive oil, brown sugar, salt and pepper.

Combine:

5 Shallots quartered lengthwise

2 cups of diced Butternut Squash

1 tablespoon of brown sugar

2 1/2 tablespoons of olive oil

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Mix it all up!

I used a regular baking sheet and put it in a single layer.

I put it in the oven at 475°. The recommendation was 20 minutes, but I did it for 40.

It turned out to be really good! I like the roasted shallots, I'm going to have to find more ways to use them :-) This is a perfect side dish for Thanksgiving, if you're looking for something a little different.

It is easy and yummy! Enjoy :-)

A Note From Lisa

$

0

Today I wanted to talk about some of the people who have grown to mean a great deal to me over my years at QVC: the hosts and vendors who have become my extended family. Over the years, the hosts have been some of my best friends.

From the warmth and loyalty of Antonella, to a hug and advice from Shawn, to out and out counseling from Albany, to learning from and sharing time with Jane, to a laugh with Rick, years of unconditional love from Mary Beth, unlimited warmth and support from Pat, laughs with Courtney, the style and grace of Amy, driving with Rachel, my dear friendship with Alberti... You get the idea, the list goes on and on.

We have shared a lot over the years. We all share our little world. In the last months of my mother’s illness a number of years ago, they covered for me without ever complaining or even expecting a thank you. I was out for probably a month to be with her, but it didn't matter. They were all there for me, and that's the kind of wonderful people they are. These are friendships that come from good people working side by side, years of shared experiences, and respect and caring for each other.

Our partners on air are the vendors and guests. These people have become some of my closest and dearest friends and confidants. Leslie Blodgett, Laura Geller, Doris Dalton, Adrienne Denese, Tova, Scott Grimes...where would I be without these amazing friends? I know that I will never let them leave my life.

I will always love going to lunch with Meghan Murray, Mari Lyn Meier, Dana Bledsoe, Carolyn Pollack, and Mary Eckenrode.

I will always look forward to seeing Ralph and Joel, Lori Goldstein, and Renee Greenstein and her husband Justin when I am in New York; Bradley Bayou, Mark Zunino and Nick Chavez when I am in L.A.; and I will go anywhere I have to, to see Cooper and to get Chaz to color my hair forever!!!!

I know this is not everyone, but I hope it at least starts to show my appreciation to the  many people you know from the show, that have made my time at QVC so wonderful. They are good people. I am lucky to have met them, luckier yet to have worked with them, and honored to call them my friends. I will miss seeing them in the course of my work, but will always love having them in my life. As I embark on the next adventure, I know I have been very blessed by this one.

-Lisa

Lisa, the very same colleagues you mentioned would like to honor you right back. We have been blessed to know you and call you…a friend.

Sisterhood of the Traveling GILI Jacket

$

There is no better feeling than when my friends like a GILI piece, and there's been a lot of "Host Buzz" about this leather jacket TSV!

Shawn Killinger

I am SO ordering this jkt, have been dreaming about it ever since Lisa told me about it. But am struggling with whether I want blue or brown. Grrrrr, it is just so ridiculously cppl, this jacket, the collar, the assym zipper, the EVERYTHING!!. So getting. Which color do you think?

Albany Irvin

I love the Sleek, Sexy, Sophisticated vibe of this jacket!  Perfectly tailored all zipped up and nipped at the waist; and the ultra cool--kinda Rocker Chic with a longer tunic peeking out the bottom.  Now, I just have to decide on a color... or two!

Amy Stran

I’m so impressed with the quality and fit of our new GILI jacket! I’ve shopped around for others and for something similar I know we would typically have to spend much more. Plus, you feel fabulous in it, and that is priceless!

Antonella Nester

My girl Lisa hit it out of the park with this stunning jacket. I especially love the unexpected blush color in a moto jacket!

Gabrielle Kerr

I love the dramatic collar on this jacket.  It looks so 'high fashion' like something out of a magazine!

Jennifer Coffey

Love love this look from GILI! It's edgy but mature, fun but still functional, and shows off curves while still giving coverage. I just can't decide on a color! Help!

Pat James-Dementri& Jayne Brown

Jayne and I are having a hard time gift shopping with this gorgeous leather GILI jacket... The leather is scrumptious and the style is so fashionable and flattering too... Maybe we'll remember to buy one as presents and get one for me too!

Sandra Bennett

Glamorous, sophisticated, ultra figure flattering, cool, and a bit edgy… That’s how I would describe this jacket. In fact, I almost didn’t recognize myself when I put it on! Haha! This is instant chic with a zipper!!

Stacey Stauffer

I love this GILI jacket because I think it has the right amount of edge to it while feeling slightly sophisticated. I would wear this over a plain sheath dress with opaque tights and high heeled boots for desk to dinner as much as I would with dark denim ankle boots and a t-shirt for a rock concert.

Rachel Boesing

Uber-soft leather, curvaceous fit, zippers, beautifully detailed and a color for every skin tone! It’s a timeless beauty :)

Kerstin Lindquist

This leather is so soft and you can wear it so many ways. It can look chic, moto, vintage…all depending on your outfit and mood.

Courtney Cason

This is automatic Cool Girl factor! I love how this gives you immediate style status :)

Don't they look great?! I love how everyone styles it their own way and makes it their own :)
