I am finally making progress in my decorating! I started with the entryway and thought I would give you a step by step. Ironically, decorating the entryway in my home is one of my favorite things for Christmas. It starts out as a perfectly nice everyday entryway…

Entryway Before...

…but ends up being really stunning. I started by using the new Bethlehem Lights garland all the way up the stairs. Then I added the beaded fruit garland on the long stretches of the green garland and used the beaded fruit teardrops where they come up to attach to the railing.

Bethlehem Lights Garland

The beaded fruit garland and teardrops are attached to the green garland with the branches of the garland itself. Put the spine of the one to the spine of the other and wrap the branches around the fruit.

Make sure the fruit is evenly distributed from the top to the bottom. Using the teardrops at significant points gives it a nice variation as you move along the garland.

Then add the branches and picks to the fruit. Nestle them down in the garland and spread the branches so they look like they are all one piece.

I added extra branches at the focal points to make them more important.

Then I added large ornaments underneath all the way along the garland.

This is where I was at this point:

I felt the focal points needed to be more dramatic, so I added some bows in the new burlap ribbon.

After that I felt the burlap ribbon needed to be consistent throughout so I re-did the front of the garland at the bottom of the stair.

A little extra ribbon on either side of the bows gives it flow.

Here is the finished product once the poinsettias were added around.

When you look at it in its entirety, the base is extremely dramatic and then is complimented with focal points up the stairway.

Finished!

Since it needs to look finished throughout, I made a little arrangement with glitter trees and a music box on the console in the entryway.

Now I’m going to have to come in my front door more often to enjoy how pretty it looks. It’s inspiring to get started and see progress. I can’t wait to do the rest of the house! See you Friday night for my last big Christmas décor show from 9-11pm ET.

See you soon!
